The business is entering an exciting period of transformation with digital & flexo print focus and recent investment in MIS software, they are looking to strengthen leadership and operational excellence across the business.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on, data-driven Production Manager with a passion for quality, continuous improvement and people development. Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll play a critical role in modernising production operations, improving performance, and championing a culture of accountability, health and safety, and change.
This is a key appointment with 12 direct reports, offering a clear path toward future leadership roles within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach and manage the production team (12 staff) on the shop floor
Develop and implement training plans, production schedules, and staffing plans
Introduce and embed a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking
Champion ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and embed them into daily practice
Analyse performance data (downtime, waste, productivity) and drive improvement
Implement robust SOPs, KPIs, and performance review processes
Create a culture of safety and compliance with improved health & safety practices
Collaborate closely with Operations Manager and Customer Service Manager
Maximise throughput and operational efficiency, targeting a 50% output increase
Support MIS implementation to digitise workflows and reduce manual processes
Ensure efficient handover of jobs from customer service to production to dispatch
Plan for succession and support the development of future team leaders
Who We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Production Manager or Supervisor in manufacturing or print
Deep understanding of quality systems – particularly ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Strong leadership and people management skills – able to challenge and inspire
Confident managing long-tenured teams and overcoming resistance to change
Experience with short to medium print runs, flexo and digital (ideally HP Indigo, Domino, Digicom)
Excellent production planning, scheduling and resource management capabilities
Highly analytical and data-driven mindset
Proactive, patient, and solutions-focused with a passion for performance improvement
Comfortable working in a rural location – must be a driver
